ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND HER BLOGS
Rockin Rita received her nickname freshman year of high school from a teacher who gave it to her because she always walked around listening to music on her walkman. To this day that nickname sticks and she even made her my email handle. Today she is more passionate than ever about music- listening, singing, downloading, whatever! Besides the music obsession she's also a crazy, random, fun-loving, super friendly, ordinary, everyday, average girl who loves her friends more than anything else in the world! She likes to write poetry whenever inspiration finds her.

She thoroughly enjoys blogging though she has been doing it for just a couple of months regularly. She has four blogs that are usually updated daily! All of her blogs are just like her- random! They contain anything she feels like posting from stuff people send in to interesting things and blog entries around the web to random thoughts and stuff she writes.

Her Philosophy: *Randomness is the key to enjoying life!*

I Appreciate You

MountainWings       A MountainWings Moment
#10253         Wings Over The Mountains of Life
-------------------------------------------------

I Appreciate You
=================

I recently received an email from a friend. The email only contained three commonly used and familiar words, yet these three words from my friend had a different feel. This simple powerful phrase shook me. It was a MountainWings Moment.

"I appreciate you" is what the email read. I gazed at this short sentence and read it over and over again. I could feel the transforming, uplifting power of these three words.

I have been thanked countless times, which is always proper and in order when someone does something for you. It is simply showing gratitude or giving credit for something that you are
responsible for.

To appreciate means to recognize the significance, quality, or magnitude of. (Appreciate freedom) To be fully aware of or sensitive to; realize: (I appreciate your problems) To be thankful or show gratitude for: (I appreciate your help) To admire greatly; value  To raise in value or price.

My friend was not appreciating me for something I did or said to or for him personally or professionally. He was not appreciating a particular problem that I had or appreciating my help on a matter.

I appreciate YOU is what the email read. That means I am appreciated, I am admired greatly, I am valued, and I am raised in value. He recognizes the significance, quality and magnitude of me, and who I am. He is thankful and shows gratitude for me.

As I absorbed the power of these three words and allowed them to penetrate and saturate my inner being, I considered whom the email was from. One of the many life lessons is to always consider the message and the source of messages that enter into your life constantly. Could this be just careless from the hip speaking? Did he have any idea how powerfully profound and life- changing this one short statement would be? Well, consider the source of the message.

The email was from a man who gives so much of himself, so much of his resources, his talents, and abilities to help and uplift others. He is not only my friend, he is also my Pastor of the local church, the Pastor of a worldwide church called Airjesus.com, and he is also the writer of MountainWings.com. He voluntarily receives no salary from the local church or the worldwide Internet outreach ministries in which he funded from his own resources. He is truly a Pastor in the true sense of The Word.

Yet, he says to me, "I appreciate you."

That also means YOU (The one reading this issue). Remember the definition of appreciate. You tend to invest in the things that you find value in, and he invests heavily in you and me. Our Heavenly Father also invests heavily in us.

Feel the power of "I APPRECIATE YOU." Tell someone or many, and mean it.

Dip into your rich resources and invest in them; whatever those resources may be.

Most of the MountainWings.com subscribers will never meet the founder, creator and writer of MountainWings. Yet, he sees value in you, me, and all people. Just click on any of the links and see for yourself.

My Pastor and friend

I APPRECIATE YOU.

~A MountainWings Original by Wesley Shorter~

from The Mountain: Wesley Shorter wrote this to me in July 2006, more than four years ago. I hesitated to publish it and even now I had made edits to remove all references to myself. I put them back. Not for self glorification but for you to understand that I do appreciate YOU, the readers of MountainWings.

Tell someone soon that you appreciate them, and mean it.

Thank you for inviting MountainWings into your mailbox.
Change a life, give a friend MountainWings.
See you tomorrow.
====================
TO MY FRIENDS AND FOLLOWERS:

I APPRECIATE YOU! I appreciate your patience in waiting for new entries while I deal with my computer issues. I appreciate your open-mindedness while you read my ramblings of randomness. I appreciate you following me along my journey of randomness and self-discovery. But most of all I APPRECIATE YOU for who you are and what you do for me! Thank you!

Tell someone that you appreciate them, and mean it!

Change The World: Volunteer your time

Share the Wealth

Reading my blogs is something that you are doing for yourself. You are choosing how to spend your time. My goal is to make my blogs interesting and informative for all my readers! This is my way of giving back to the world and trying to help make it better, one person at a time. Today I encourage you to go one step further and consider helping others, too, by becoming a volunteer.

Studies show that volunteers have higher levels of self-esteem and life satisfaction than those who don't give their time and energy. As a volunteer, you can participate in your community, create new friendships, and improve the quality of the place where you live and the lives of others. Yet volunteering doesn't have only external benefits — it's internally gratifying as well. Anyone who has committed time or resources toward a good cause knows the satisfaction and pleasure such work provides. Volunteering can also teach you new skills and introduce you to talents you didn't know you had.

Maybe you already have an organization in mind that you'd like to support. But if you're not sure what you might want to do, think about why you want to volunteer and what benefits you hope to gain from the experience. What kinds of skills, knowledge, or abilities can you share? What are your greatest strengths? What do you like — and dislike — doing? Do you want to work with other people or by yourself? How much time are you willing to give? Choose something that fits your schedule, your skills, and your temperament.

Once you have given these questions some thought, check out a volunteering Web site, like VolunteerMatch, NetworkForGood, Habitat For Humanity, ONE.org, or CMT One Country (among many others)  that can help you find volunteering opportunities in your area that match your interests.  If you have kids who you want to get in on the volunteering or who just love to help check out The BIG Help and The BIG GREEN Help. Give a little money (as  little as $5.00 can make a big impact) to a charity that you are somehow connected to (cancer, pediatrics- such as St.Jude, juvenile diabetes, heart disease, asthma, etc) once a year if possible.

If you don't have a lot of time or money to give, give as you can and try to help change the world one person at a time! Soon you'll see that finding the right volunteer activity is something good that you can do for both yourself and others. Help make this world a better place for future generations.

Happy 100 Entries!

Wow! I seriously cannot believe I have blogged 100 times here in Randomness Rocks! This is so unbelievable to me. Time has flown by! Is there an award for this?! Do I get to be a Blog of Note (BoN) now?

Acceptance Speech
First of all I would like to thank all my current fans and followers- without you or your support I'd be bored and far less random. I'd also like to thank the academy (ok just kidding). I'd like to thank my future readers and followers who aren't even reading this right now. I'd like to thank them because they will become an important reason why I keep blogging. I'd like to thank God for creating me and allowing me to share my randomosity with the world and for creating the people who made computers and software and the internet and blogging. Without all of you and them none of this would be possible. Thank you again! Here's to many many more! Have a great night!

Time for some fan imput!
How should I celebrate? What should entry 101 be about? Should I keep 101 as "21 Things Hiring Managers Wish You Knew (day 5)" or be random and do something different- something special? Will someone make me an award I can display on my blog please?

21 Things Hiring Managers Wish You Knew (day 4)

We'd like a thank-you note right away.

E-mail is fine for this and has the advantage of arriving faster, but handwritten notes are still appreciated (and are increasingly unusual so will stand out). And if there are multiple interviews, send a thank-you note each time.
