What is more American than apple pie or apple pie and ice cream, or sliced white bread? How about football? I am proud to say I am one of the few who can not stand the sport. I barely understand it and could careless about grown men pushing and shoving each other around all over a ball! to me it just sounds pathetic and barbaric. Regardless of my feelings towards it, I must say I do love watching the Super Bowl every year. Well, not exactly. I only tune in to watch the commercials! This year commercials cost over $10,000 a second to air. Sure hope people will be buying these products being pitched! But what's my all\-time favorite thing about Super Bowl Sunday? The Puppy Bowl of course! That's right I said the Puppy Bowl!
It's probably my favorite time of year, besides Christmas and the first
Winter snowfall! If you ask me it's just the cutest show on TV! The Puppy Bowl is an annual television program on Animal Planet that mimics the Super Bowl, using puppies. Shown the same afternoon of the Super Bowl (just hours before pre-game), the show consists of footage of a batch of puppies at play inside a model stadium, with commentary on their actions. The first Puppy Bowl was shown on February 6, 2005. The puppies featured in the Puppy Bowl are from shelters, and the show contains information on how viewers can adopt rescued puppies and help their local shelter. Puppy Bowl is filmed inside a miniature "stadium" that is 19 feet (5.8 m) long by 10 feet (3.0 m) wide. The show focuses on young puppies, and there is a height and weight limit due to the size limitations of the play area. The various cameras used to tape the show generate about 50 hours of footage. Roughly 30 staff are needed to produce the show.
A veterinarian is on site during the production of Puppy Bowl to ensure animal safety and well-being, and to administer any veterinary medical care which might be needed. Representatives from American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, as well as the shelters which lend their animals to the production, are also on site as observers to ensure animal welfare standards are
maintained. Puppies are given a rest period every 30 minutes, due to the heat from the lights. According to its associate producer, the 2011 production occurred in the New York City area in the fall of 2010 spread over 3 days taking about 12 hours each day, using 47 puppies. The annual Animal Planet
event is about more than capitalizing on football's biggest Sunday. "It's really a call to action,"
Executive Producer Melinda Toporoff told CNN. "We want to raise awareness for shelters everywhere and get more puppies adopted." The Puppy Bowl seems to be doing its part for more than just the network. Since 2004, 250 animals have been adopted through the game!
The adorable little pups aren't the only stars. This year they had chicken cheerleaders, puppy tailgaters, hamster pilots in the blimp above, puppy cams, and even an adorable Kitty Half-Time Show. But perhaps the most amazing part of the Puppy Bowl is its viewership. It started 7 years ago as a space-filler and now it gets viewed by 8.6 million people, something no one expected, reports CNN.

Game Time! (Get Involved and Have Fun)
Firstly, I would like to post something I found on the facebook profile page of one of my favorite (former) radio dj's. It made me laugh, but it explains how so many of us who are unemployed (and have been for a while) feel!
For example, I'm first
and I say "I'm going to the park and I'm going to bring an apple." The
next person says "I'm going to the park and I'm going to bring an
elephant." The third person then must come up with a word that begins
with "T." You are absolutely aloud to look around for things beginning
with that letter. It is a great help when you get deep into the game and
repeat letters multiple times.
Kris Stevens I've now become a burden to society. So unless you want to keep paying my unemployment benefits, I suggest you hire me. (ok, I'm done venting)
Ok, now it's Game Time!
Let's play a game. It's called the alphabet game. We are "going to the park" and each person brings the first person, place, or thing that comes to their mind. The first person starts with A, the next B, then C, etc. When playing in real life (a great way to pass time) each person is to repeat everything said before them beginning with "I'm ...going to the park and I'm going to bring..." A, B, and C. If they forget anything they lose the game and start a new game with the letter A.
A fun variation on this game is what I like to call "The Game That Never Ends" This is because it has the potential to go on forever! The first person starts with A and whatever letter that word ends in the next person begins with. This time you don't repeat everything said before you because this variation can last very long and most of the time you will repeat letters quite a few times although you still are not to repeat words.

8 Toys from the 90's That I Really Miss (and 1 Toy I Don't)
I was a kid in the late 80's/early 90's; a bit young for New Kids on the Block, but way too old for Barney the Dinosaur. We
did spends loads of time playing with Barbie, Legos, and these
following toys that seemed to have been over in a time span shorter than
Vanilla Ice's career. Hey, universe, plaid and ripped jeans have made a
comeback; bring back my Super Soaker!
Tamagotchi's! Mine never lived that long, but wait! Sometimes the buttons would malfunction, making it impossible for you to remove their, ahem, waste droppings. I swear! (above)
POGs. Remember? You flipped them or threw them or something? The ying-yang POGs up there might be the most 90's thing ever.
Hungry Hungry Hippos was clearly the best game ever, although looking back, it might have secretly been an astute metaphor for capitalist greed...
Troll dolls. How did we ever sleep with these creepy things staring at us from the nightstand?? I loved them though, must say!
Gak. Did anyone else have the pizza-scented Gak? That stuff was nasty. Looking back, Nickelodeon was basically the cultural embodiment of the 90's.
Super Soakers! I'm sure they still make these in some super high-tech version that comes with a clutch and a gear-shift, but I remember pumping that air-pressure gizmo until I was blue in the face.
Skip-It. What other toy could you play with while simultaneously trying to trip your sister?
Beanie Babies. We all talked our parents into buying us fuzzy platypus after fuzzy platypus by saying that eventually we could sell them all as collectors' items and thus finance our college education. Well, that didn't turn out so well. UPDATE: I just did some Googling and found out Ty is still in business and cranking out the Beanies (and also something called "Ty Girlz"), but judging from their slightly ghetto website they're not pulling in a huge bankroll from pawning off Inch the Worm.
BONUS TOY I DO NOT MISS:
Stretch Armstrong. Remember how cool those commercials were of kids yanking poor Stretch's corn-syrup-filled rubbery limbs clear across the room? Where did you go, Stretch? Come back.... No wait please don't. I don't need to deal with that mess again.

Woman Publicly Outs Boss for Playing "FarmVille" at Work

Yesterday morning, a woman named Jenny announced that she was
quitting her job through a series of messages written on dry erase
boards, which she photographed and e-mailed out to her entire office of
roughly 20 employees. Those photos — and a wildly amusing supposed
backstory — have since found their way to the Internet.
The boards reveal that Jenny overheard a phone conversation in which her boss called her a “HOPA” (Hot Piece of Ass), effectively inspiring her to leave — and to take revenge via the dry erase board messages. But Jenny decided to take things a step further by disclosing not only her boss’s misconduct, but also how he spends his time online, since he both monitors his employees’ online activity and gave her access to the monitoring software.
The boards reveal exactly how much time Jenny’s boss spent trading stocks, reading tech news and, yes, playing FarmVille. It looks like Bulgarian city councilman Dimitar Kerin won’t be the last employee to get canned because of his FarmVille addiction.
