Do we really need this craze to stick?

Wacky Bandz, Silly Bandz, Crazy Bandz, Goofy Bands- whatever you call them you can find them anywhere these days. 

 

Unless you've been living under a rock, or away at college, I'm sure you've seen/heard of/or maybe even have some Silly Bandz of your own. They come in variety packs ranging from animals, to sports, to alphabet, to shapes and everything you can think of in between.

What is up with these rubber bracelets shaped like random objects? What is the big deal? Call me crazy but I just don't get it. Why is there such an appeal? It seems even The NY Times commented on this fad as well, but I want to hear it from you. Have you seen any adults wearing Silly Bandz or is it just kids and tweens and teens? Are you a fan of these shape bracelets or do you think they are weird?

Does anyone remember the late 80's/early 90's mega fad Slap Bracelets? To me this is just another fad like slap bracelets.

And how is this different from those gummy/jelly bracelets/bangles and the livestrong-type bands that were big just a few years ago?
